About Me

Katie at the BLDG61 Makerspace

I am dedicated to empowering individuals through language learning. I have focused on materials development, educational technology, assessment writing, and program development. I have presented internationally on these topics and taught in Albania, Germany, Thailand, and the United States. I volunteer on TESOL's Standards Professional Council, and I previously served on Oregon TESOL's Executive Board, TESOL's 2014 Convention Planning Committee, and TESOL's Computer-Assisted Language Learning Interest Section.

I am originally from Oregon, where I earned my master's degree in TESOL from Portland State University. In my free time, I am an avid crafter and seamstress. I love to frequent my local Makerspace, BLDG61, where I admire other people’s handiwork and experiment on the laser cutter. I also love to hike!
